WHAT IS CHEM FILM?
A chemical conversion coating that is known as ‘Chem Film’ is generally used to passivate aluminum, which means to condition metal by changing a layer of its surface or, putting a thin layer of coating on the surface, which makes it un-reactive. It also is used in protecting aluminum substrates from possible corrosion. This will work for base organic coating that have dimensions that have not been changed.
HOW IS CHEM FILM APPLIED?
To apply Chem Film one can use a brush, sprayer, or dip it. Occasionally, it is applied with Type II Anodizing, and it is used on repairing anodized surfaces that have minor damages. The result of this coating will be a grey, however, it will sometimes be a clear yellow, and dull. It is not intended for decorative use.
